About the Inntel Hotel Zaandam

Located in Zaandam, just a quick 12-mile train ride from the center of Amsterdam, is an absolute feast for the eyes! The Inntel Hotel Zaandam looks like a playful pile of Lego-styled Dutch homes all stacked on top of each other.

Wilfried van Winden designed the Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Zaandam, completing it in 2010. This hotel is a 12-story structure with nearly 70 traditional Zaanse-style house facades and 160 rooms. The house facades represent five different styles of Zaan houses. All of the houses are painted green except one blue house, said to be a nod to Claude Monet. Indeed, this hotel is truly an architectural masterpiece, unlike any other hotel.

Location & Nearby Highlights

The Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Zaandam is located in the heart of Zaandam, offering a great escape from the hectic city of Amsterdam. For those seeking more of an authentic Dutch-town vibe, this place is just that. Shops, quaint cafes, and restaurants line the streets, and the whole area has a more relaxed pace in general.

The Zaandam Station is located next door to the hotel. With frequent trains running constantly to Amsterdam, it’s super convenient to visit the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, or to try some tasty Stroopwaffles. The famous open-air museum, Zaanse Schans, is also close by. This museum features historic windmills, cheese-making demonstrations, and clogs.

Other Unexpected Things to do:

Amsterdam Icebar: A “cool” bar made from 35 tons of sculpted ice. They even serve cocktails in glasses made entirely of ice.

Over The Edge – A’DAM Lookout Swing: Thrill seekers will love what is considered to be Europe’s highest swing. You’ll take an elevator up 22 floors to ride a swing 328 feet above ground. Ideally, we recommend doing this on a sunny day to truly take in the impressive views. That is, if you’re brave enough to open your eyes!
